In My Mind
We say
Our next recommendation for The Great Escape Online this year is the extremely talented south-east London-based artist Mysie. We’ve previously featured Mysie in our Compass pages last June, and since then, she has won the inaugural ‘Rising Star Award’ at last year’s Ivor Novellos. Along the way, her intimate indie soul music has caught the attention of Hunger, Notion, Fader, NME, Sunday Times, and Colors, plus she has been tipped as One To Watch by Gal-Dem, Dork, TMRW and the Line of Best Fit. Radio support has come from Jack Saunders at Radio 1, Jamz Supernova at 1Xtra, Chris Hawkins at 6Music and Jess Iszatt at BBC Introducing London. Now signed to her mentor, producer and close collaborator Fraser T Smith's label 70Hz, she is set to release her new EP, Undertones, on 21 May. This lyrically whip-smart track, drenched in silky bass synths and rhythmic flows, is her latest release. Written and produced with songwriter Paul Dixon (aka Fyfe), the track is a stirring ode about “the prospect of lust” and is absolutely gorgeous. Watch her TGE Online performance tonight at 18.01 on stage 5.
