Introvert
We say
Premiered as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1 on Wednesday night, this powerfully poignant and cinematic clarion call is the latest release from north London rapper Little Simz. Within the first ten seconds, you know you are in for something special as the marching drum line meets a lush orchestral fanfare and ethereal choir before Simz reflects on the past year, with bars tackling fear, frustration, her mental health and political awakening. It’s bold, ambitious and oh so very good, showing just how far she has come since her 2018 RotD feature and 2019 album GREY Area. Accompanying the track is the stunning visual directed by filmmaker Salomon Lightelm – watch here. Produced by longtime friend Inflo, Introvert is the first track to be taken from her upcoming studio album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert. It’s been lauded by Complex, GRM Daily, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork and numerous others and has been added to new release playlists across Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Deezer today. Quite simply, magnificent.
