Oscar Wilde (Came Here To Make Fun Of You)
We say
Here at RotD, we have a soft spot for quality Americana and last Friday (26 March), Mississippi-born John Murry released this gorgeously melancholic and twisted gem. Having gained critical acclaim from Uncut, MOJO Magazine, Q Magazine, The Quietus, Sunday Times and Guardian for his 2012 and 2017 albums, The Graceless Age and A Short History Of Decay, Murry is now ready to deliver his John Parish (PJ Harvey, Aldous Harding) produced album, The Stars Are God’s Bullet Holes, this June. Recorded at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth with the rest of the album, Oscar Wilde (Came Here To Make Fun Of You) is the lead track from the album and is his first new music for label Submarine Cat Records. Watch the Aiden Gillen (Game of Thrones, Peaky Blinders) directed video here. This is for those of you who adore the self-deprecating introspection of The National and the proto-country storytelling of The Horrible Crowes.
