Something To Hold On To
We say
Backed by syncopated pop beats and driven by a high-drama melody, Something To Hold Onto is an exceptionally exquisite dose of hauntingly, honest electro-pop from 19 year old Toronto singer-songwriter Alex Frew. Having signed a development deal with Warner Music at the age of 15, the teenager dropped his debut track Get Out Alive last year and quickly picked up streaming support from Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music in Canada. His follow up single, Antisocial Love Song, followed suit with more playlists features and now, this gem is doing the same with adds on Spotify’s NMF CA & It's A Bop. It’s not only streaming services that are picking up on this young talent but tastemakers like Notion, Wonderland and Atwood Magazine are too, all singing his praises. With its themes of self-doubt, self-criticism, toxic habits and anxiety, it’s a moody listen but one that shows off this young writer captivating lyrics. With his forthcoming EP coming out in February, there is plenty more to come from this emerging artist for all of us to enjoy and one for your radars.
