Needed You
We say
Our last Ones To Watch 2021 for this week is the high octane Bad Boy Chiller Crew. It’s been something of a momentous year for the Bradford-based group that started out as friends uploading skits on social media. Their fresh take on UK bass music with its nod to mid-noughties bassline house culture and a biting sense of typically northern self-effacing wit has made the lads one of the most exciting and intriguing acts to emerge this year. After releasing their first mixtape Full Wack No Brakes in September, the group signed to Relentless Records in partnership with House Anxiety to release this raucous and high energy offering last week. With a heavy dose big pop ambition and an addictive flow, Needed You is full of those quickfire, witty bars about having a good time, casual observations and living life in the fast lane that the group have become known for. Think the Streets meet T2’s Heartbroken. Rolling Stone magazine, Pitchfork, Vice, Guardian, NME, Face and Notion are just some of the many tastemakers who have sung their praises in 2020, and we expect many more to jump on board in 2021. Next March, they will be heading out on tour across the UK and have recently been announced as one of the first fifty artists for the Great Escape festival. With their fast, fun and seriously infectious tunes, Bad Boy Chiller Crew are set to have a big 2021.
