Oh What A Relief
We say
We’ve been following the emergence of Australian-Lebanese singer-songwriter Azure Ryder since the release of her gorgeous debut Dizzy earlier this year. Taken in by her rich, resonant voice with hints of Stevie Nicks, we watched as the 24 year old followed this up with her beautiful Running With The Wolves EP, clock up over 10m streams and see Dizzy become the no.1 most played on Triple J for weeks. Here in the UK, Ryder has been wooing tastemakers too, like Notion, Sunday Times Culture, NME, and the BBC. Plus her recent single Stronger received a Future Artists play by Jack Saunders on Radio 1. Now back with her second EP, Crazy With The Light, released last week, she returns with an EP packed full of emotion with tales of empowerment, resilience and heartbreak. Produced by Dylan Nash (Dean Lewis), Oh What A Relief is the lead track and beautifully weaves intricate instrumentation with buoyant handclap melodies for the reflective Ryder. With echoes of Florence + the Machine, the track featured across Spotify (Australia & Germany NMF) and Apple Music (Australia NMD), but we reckon they won’t be the last as this gets picked up for mood-based playlists too. Having left London for her hometown in Australia before she could perform live ahead of the lockdown, she is set to perform two shows in Sydney on 2 & 3 December (pandemic permitting). It may be a while yet, till we can see her back in the UK, but we are sure by then we shall see a confident and rising global star.
