Glorious Mess
We say
Sophia Amato is a London-based singer-songwriter with Sicilian heritage who delivers a gorgeously deft dose of pure lo-fi electronica infused with jazzy tones in this, her debut offering. Having spent the past couple of years between London and New York, Sophia has been inspired by the art and jazz scenes of both cities to develop her unique sound. Fusing elements of pop, contemporary R&B and soul, alongside theatrical lyrical themes, her sound is a rich and expansive one. Released today (20 August), Glorious Mess is (and forgive us here) a glorious and bold statement of intent from the newcomer. Sultry vocals rise over subtle production and a simmering hip-hop beat, backed by lush orchestration and a hint of John Barry-esque theatrics. Perfect for chilled and new soul/R&B playlists, this is a fine addition to anyone’s playlists. She is currently in the studio working with writers and producers like Bastian (Jess Glynne, Jessie Ware), Lapsley, Karma Kid (aka Shy Luv), Dan Caplen (Clean Bandit, Macklemore) and John Foyle (FKA Twigs), so expect much more musical goodness to come in the near future.
