Firewood ft. Idd Aziz
We say
As we head into a weekend of sizzling heat, Beating Heart label founders and dance duo Saronde (Olly Wood and Chris Pedley) deliver an uplifting dose of sun-kissed afrofunk in this their latest release. Formed in 2016 from an idea of fusing ancient sounds with modern musical concepts, Saronde have been creating a name for themselves across festival stages (Glastonbury, Boomtown, elrow) and radio airwaves ever since with their unique musical soundscape. Following their previous single Kilamu, which has over 500k combined streams and has picked up support from Worldwide FM, Radio Nova France and Spotify (Afropop), Firewood sees the duo take it to another level. Featuring Kenyan superstar Idd Aziz and a ’50s Kikuyu all female a capella (sung by young unmarried girls while collecting firewood), the track is a bewitching affair, full of disco vibes, funk-laden guitars and joyous energy. A perfect tune to chill out to round the pool or to dance the late summer nights away.
