The Score
We say
Growing up in Cambridge, singer and songwriter Will Matta started his music career playing in numerous bands around the city before heading to Germany to busk. There he met his girlfriend and decided to focus on writing songs for other artists instead. He enjoyed immediate success by penning and singing on German DJ Alle Farben’s 2019 album Sticker on My Suitcase track We Were On Fire and currently has collaborations with DJs Don Diablo, Chocolate Puma and others in the offing. However, when he wrote this infectious and upbeat pop-rock number about arguing with himself he couldn’t give it to someone else so decided to release the track himself. With its Goyte-esque meets Dandy Warhols quirky pop vibe underlying this earworm it’s tailor-made for radio play on the likes of Radio X, Absolute and 6 Music, as well as those upbeat contextual indie/pop-rock playlists. Plus it wouldn’t surprise us if this gets picked up for sync for an advert or American TV series too – just way too catchy not to be.
