Helpless
We say
Drawing on musical influences as diverse as Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill to Fleetwood Mac, James Blake, Rosalia and Amy Winehouse, Manchester-born singer-songwriter Tyrer produces her very own unique and fresh sound. This captivatingly dark and emotionally charged number beautifully blends a sparse acoustic melody with a warm percussive wash and soaring vocals to create a truly infectious listen. Taken from her debut EP This Is, which documents her recent move to London, the Oscar Scheller (Ashnikko) produced Helpless was chosen as a Radio 5 ‘Track of the Week’ and led to her being interviewed and performing live on Laura Whitmore’s BBC Radio The Sunday Sessions. Watch her gorgeously shot video by Alex White here. Further tastemaker support has come from Neon Music, Clash, The Box, Noctis Mag, Skope Mag and Talk About Pop Music among others. Minimalist, insidious and with a killer vocal, this is fresh, forward-thinking pop delivered with aplomb.
