If You're New Here Dance
We say
Vonica is a German-born, Italian-raised, and now London-based electronic music producer who fuses a range of electronic styles to create something altogether melodic and challenging. In 2018, he dropped his debut EP Sol de Nit, which picked up tastemaker praise from the likes of Mixmag, Clash, the 405 and the Line of Best Fit, plus radio support from Radio X (John Kennedy) and 6 Music (Steve Lamacq, Radcliffe & Maconie). Now back with a brand new EP worth of music, this infectious little earworm is its first track. Released yesterday (4 February), If You’re New Here Dance is a vibrant concoction of joyous melodies and eccentric rhythms that just makes you want to move. Recalling elements of SebastiAn, Caribou and Hot Chip, expect to see this alt banger added to dance playlists across streaming services and pick up more love from online tastemakers over the next couple of weeks. Having previously supported Friendly Fires, Com Truise, and Eyedress, Vonica will be performing his own show at the Waiting Room in London this Friday (7 February). An enthralling dose of electronic goodness for those who like their dance music somewhere to the left of the norm.
