Altar Wine
We say
Back in 2017, we introduced you to Irish singer-songwriter David Keenan and his remarkable gift for storytelling in the passionate Cobwebs. Since then, the Dundalk-born artist has developed a loyal, ever-growing following with a series of self-released EPs and all-consuming live performances. Now signed to Rubyworks, he released this hauntingly beautiful and manic number yesterday. Taken from his forthcoming debut album A Beginner’s Guide To Bravery, it’s the follow up to the Spotify supported (NMF UK, A Breath of Fresh Eire) lead track Tin Pan Alley and explores the insecurities of his past and those that he perceives in Ireland. It’s a brutally honest affair, woven together with passion against a blend of gentle guitar melodies and jagged, raw instrumentation. All of which is expertly visualised in the striking accompanying video, directed by Mark William Logan. Watch it here. Early radio supporters include RTE Radio 1, Today FM, 2FM, iRadio and KCLR (Ireland), KINK (Netherlands) and EGO FM (Germany). If you haven’t managed to catch him perform live yet, he is currently supporting Hozier across his UK and European dates, and will next Monday (7 October) headline The Islington in London. A talented songwriter with so much more to give.
