Gone Girl
We say
We have been big fans of London-based group Flyte since we featured them back in 2014. Their brilliant debut album, 2017’s The Loved Ones, was a masterpiece in modern pop, tinged with retro sensibilities, and was proclaimed by the Sunday Times to be “the best British debut album of the year”. Now back with their White Roses EP, produced by long term collaborator Burke Reid (Courtney Barnett, Julia Jacklin) and Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, The National) on mixing duties, the band have delivered another absolute joy. From the folk-led and harmony-rich title track featuring the Staves to the 60s Beatles-esque pop of I Still Believe In You, and this waltzy number, it’s a gorgeously rich and emotive listen. Support has come from key tastemakers like the Line of the Best Fit, Clash, DIY, Sunday Times, Annie Mac, Radio X, and Spotify to name just a few. On 11 November they will be playing a sold-out (in less than a week) Village Underground, having already filled the Omeara in London earlier this year. In the meantime, the band are about to support Jade Bird on her US tour this month and have already started to record their second album at Keane’s recording studio, setting up a very busy and exciting end to 2019.
