Queen
We say
Now here is something special to brighten your day from electronic duo STORME. We have been following them since April last year and with each track vocalist, Amanda Liedberg, and producer, Gabriele Mazza, have constantly upped their game and delivered ethereal pop gems. Queen is no different, and oh boy, it’s good, very good in fact. Inspired by the ending of a toxic relationship and co-written and produced with Tim Powell (former Xenomania production team), Queen bounds gloriously from its airy synth motifs to its infectious chorus, full of booming tribal drums and Swedish Joik (chanting) vocal hooks, with aplomb. It’s as if the glacial sounds of iamamiwhoami have been distilled with the quirkiness of Kate Bush and poppiness of Aurora. Spotify added it to their Iceland and Denmark New Music Friday playlists last Friday, and numerous Hype Machine blogs have supported, including Earmilk, Indietronica, Acid Stag, and Going Solo. Having recently been featured on the soundtrack of the ITV drama The Bay, they have numerous publishing offers on the table and more music planned for this year. You can catch them perform at The Lexington in London on 6 September, and having seen them ourselves, we recommend you do.
