Heartbreaker
We say
Now here is something sounding undeniably cool from Connecticut’s multi-instrumentalist Jon Searles, aka Jonathan Something. Released last Friday and featuring on Apple Music’s Best of the Week (US & CA) playlists, Heartbreaker effortlessly marries blues-tinged rock’n’roll with lush baroque-pop flourishes and the soul of Motown in a gloriously nostalgic yet infectious post-breakup ode. It’s one of those tracks that upon hearing it, you can immediately picture it soundtracking a poignant scene from the BBC’s Killing Eve or Fargo. With the Line of Best Fit already a fan of his first new music since his debut album, Outlandish Poetica, released last year that garnered tastemaker support from the likes of Billboard, Stereogum and the 405, Heartbreaker is the perfect showcase of Jon Searles’ unique songwriting style and one to take him to the next level. An addictive blend of nostalgic perfection.
