Mamma
We say
Back in April, rising 22 year old South African multi-instrumentalist James Deacon caught our attention with his gritty debut Not Givin’ Up and now he is back with this gloriously anthemic number. Taken from his debut EP The Calling released last week, which features previous singles and three new tracks, Mamma blends soulful rock with a good dose of American country, giving it a dirty swagger and a defiant beat. Written “about how technology and social media has destroyed” his generation, the track looks set to build on previous tastemaker support from the likes of Clash, Indie Shuffle, Earmilk, and Born Music among others, as well as radio plays on 5FM and streaming support at Apple Music and Spotify in his native South Africa. All we have left to say is to keep your eye on this talented newcomer and we highly recommend you take a listen to the full EP. You won’t be disappointed.
