It’s been a while since a new girl group have piqued our interest here at RotD, but unperfect have just done that with their infectious release, I’m A Dreamer. Consisting of Chloe, Siobhan, Soipan and Tiah, the group released their debut single, Gots To Give The Girl, and EP Yeah, Why Not at the start of the year, and have since racked up over 1.2m streams, been named Apple Music’s Artist of the Week and received tastemaker praise from The Fader, GQ USA, Guardian, NME and i-D for their R&B-inspired pop. Radio support has come from the likes of Clara Amfo, Annie Mac, and Matt & Mollie at Radio 1 with further spins from Gilles Peterson (6 Music) and Elton John on his Beats 1 show. Signed to the independent label arm of Xenomania, the pop production house headed by Brian Higgins (Girls Aloud, Sugababes, The Saturdays), the four-piece dropped this pop banger last Friday. With its undeniable Xenomania pop sound at its heart and hooks that will worm their way into your head for days to come, this inspirational track was immediately added to Spotify UK New Music Friday and Apple Music Best of the Week playlists.
