Aeroplane
We say
Back in 2015, we openly gushed about French singer-songwriter Petite Meller’s early singles Baby Love and Barbaric here at RotD. She then went on to release her critically acclaimed debut album Lil Empire (50m+ combined streams) the following year, picking up praise for her brand of 'social pop’ from the likes of Paper, Noisey, i-D and Time among others, as well as being nominated for Best Push Artist at 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards. Now she is back with this upbeat blast of zany pop goodness, her first new music in three years, and it's good, very good infact. Blending tribal north African wedding drums with Paul Simon-esque sounds and a tropical-inspired bridge, Aeroplane is a bouncy and energetic bundle of infectious pop. With a sound that would happily sit on Radio 1 and 2 plus new pop/feelgood playlists, this future summer anthem is already making waves online, hitting the number one spot on Hype Machine (Tuesday) with support from the Line of Best Fit, Earmilk, the 405 and V Magazine. It's a welcomed return from Petite, we missed you and so did pop.
