Faded
We say
Telling a story of fading love, this beautifully slow-burning, disco-tinged number is yet again another absolute delight from London-based singer-songwriter and producer Lyves. The eagle-eyed among you may remember we last featured her in July with her brilliant Rest Your Head track from her 8 Rooms project. Faded is her latest release in the series and this time sees Lyves delve into the sounds of Anita Baker, Rose Royce, Bill Withers and Donna Summer for inspiration. With its funk-heavy guitar flecks, smooth bass and groovy drums providing a rich backdrop for Lyves’ sultry vocals, the track is perfect for smooth and soulful playlists, plus it wouldn't surprise us to hear this picking up some airplay too. Her previous releases have amassed over 30m streams, been played on 6Music (Mary Anne Hobbs and Chris Hawkins), BBC Radio London (Gary Crowley), 1Xtra (Jamz Supernova) and BBC Introducing, and supported by the likes of Notion, Rolling Stone, Complex, Clash and Pigeons & Planes. Outside of tastemaker support, her tracks have been synced to a number of TV shows, including The Flash (the CW), Queen Sugar, and Teen Wolf, and she has just played a packed-out headline show at Omeara and will be heading out on a UK tour this Autumn. Elegant and stirring soul music for the heart and mind.
