Scottish singer-songwriter Tommy Ashby is an artist we have been following closely over the last eighteen months, having featured his beautifully brooding tracks Guilty and Restless Love. Today he releases his brand new Golden Arrow EP and this gorgeous blend of softly plucked guitar melodies and lush atmospherics is its lead single. Produced by Sam Okell (John Grant, Graham Coxon), Apollo (New Love) again effortlessly showcases Tommy’s pure vocal which soars gracefully with the more expansive production halfway through. It’s utterly glorious, full of warmth and joy, perfect for those mellow contextual playlists and with the right push, we reckon, it would be perfect for Radio 2 airwaves too. Previous tracks have garnered support from Clash, Louder Than War, Fearne Cotton (Radio 2), Spotify (Your Coffee Break/Easy) and Apple Music (Acoustic Chill), as well as major global syncs for Grey’s Anatomy, Netflix’s The Innocents and NBC’s Midnight Texas. Having just finished supporting Luke Sital Singh on his UK tour, Tommy will be headlining St Pancras Old Church on 12 June, which we would heartily recommend you pop down to if you haven’t seen him yet.
