We say
With Irish hip hop currently enjoying something of a breakthrough moment in the global scene, Dublin-based rapper Jafaris is fast becoming one of the most talked about hip hop prospects. Born in Zimbabwe and raised in Dublin, he released his uncompromising debut album Stride last month to critical acclaim, with the likes of the Irish Times, NME, and Fader all singing its praises. This, his latest single, featured on Spotify UK New Music Friday, Who We Be and the New Eire editorial playlists, as well as 13 Apple Music Best of the Week and Deezer’s Brand New playlists upon release. And it’s easy to see why with its blend of intricate wordplay and powerful production coming together in a swift two minutes of high energy and explosive lyricism, reminiscent of early Kanye West and Childish Gambino. Last week, Complex premiered its stunning visuals, directed by Nathan Barlow, while Radio 1 (Annie Mac), Radio 2 (Jo Whiley), Kiss FM, RTE 2fm, and Today FM have all supported. This Thursday (25 April) he will be playing his debut show in London at the Sebright Arms before heading on a tour of Ireland in May. Fresh, dynamic and forward thinking hip hop from an emerging talent.
