Making quite an impact at Eurosonic last week, ELI is a rising R&B/pop star based in Berlin whose debut single, Change Your Mind, achieved Gold status in his native Germany last year and has so far amassed over 42m Spotify plays. His latest release, Laying Low, is another hit in the making with its delicate piano opening morphing into a gorgeously warm and sultry low-key R&B bedroom jammer. Released earlier in the month and featuring on nineteen Spotify New Music Fridays, as well as their It’s a Hit! and Singled Out editorial playlists, the track has picked up further tastemaker support from Clash and Complex with more to come over the next week. Expect to see this added to chill and R&B playlists over the coming weeks and build into a streaming hit. Possessing a natural pop touch, this 20 year old, originally from Cologne, could very well be the next German export making waves in the UK. An infectious R&B tinged earworm.
