Cheap Talk
We say
Fronted by guitarist Lucia Fairfull, Glasgow’s indie rock four-piece LUCIA have been on our radar since the summer when they dropped their dreamy and nostalgic single Summertime. The track has so far amassed over 250k streams, featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday (UK), The Indie List and Fresh Finds (US) editorial playlists, received airplay on BBC Radio 1 (Annie Mac) and Radio X, and hit the top 10 on Hype Machine. Further tastemaker support has come from likes of the NME, Drowned in Sound, The Line of Best Fit, DIY, Clash, Dork, Wonderland and Nylon to name just a few. Released today and featuring on Spotify UK's New Music Friday playlist, Cheap Talk is the title track to their new EP, containing the aforementioned single plus two brand new tracks. Produced by Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Adele) and mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Florence + The Machine), Cheap Talk sees the band blending their garage rock swagger with their more vitriolic side in this gorgeous punk-driven number. Later this month (28 November), the band will play The Great Escape First Fifty gig at The Courtyard Theatre in London, having played over 84 gigs in the last 12 months, including festival appearances at SXSW, Live at Leeds, Latitude, and Boardmasters. Infectious and anthemic indie rock from one to watch for in 2019.
