Marry Me
We say
Farao is the project of Berlin by-way-of Norway multi-instrumentalist and producer Kari Jahnsen. In 2015, her debut album, Till It’s All Forgotten, garnered her a dedicated fanbase after praise from online tastemakers, such as Pitchfork, Clash, the Line Of Best Fit and Noisey. Her second album, Pure-O, released last week, sees her exploring new territory sonically, as she dives into a glorious world of prog pop amidst a whirlwind of cosmic Soviet-made synth pop tones. It’s a gorgeous mood piece that delves into the darker side of human relationships but also harbours some deliciously infectious alt dance numbers, like this absolute gem. Driven by a classic disco beat, Marry Me with its blissful vocals and luscious cascading synths is an impressive album opener and single. With support from Stereogum, Fader, Paste Magazine, the Line of Best Fit and Spotify (New Indie Mix) among others for the album and single, plus more to come, this is an album and track worth discovering.
