Ordinary Girl
We say
We last featured the indie pop sounds of London-based band Anteros last December with their gorgeous single Love. Since then the four-piece have been recording their debut album, When We Land, at the Distillery with Charlie Andrew (Alt-J, Marika Hackman, Bloc Party), toured the UK and played summer festivals, including Kendal Calling, Y Not and Bestival. Released last Friday and featuring on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist, Ordinary Girl is the second single to be taken from their forthcoming debut, out next year, and sees the band break new sonic ground with this bracing and introspective folk-rock number. Written for frontwoman Laura Hayden’s baby sister, the track dissects the feeling of being knocked down and the fight to move forward in the face of adversity. It’s a gorgeous and stirring gem of a track that really shows the band’s versatility and offers a tantalising glimpse at what's to come. They’ve been championed by BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Huw Stephens and Jack Saunders to name a few, and amassed over four million Spotify streams. This Thursday they will be playing the Garage in London and if you haven’t yet seen them perform live, then you are really missing out on a great show. Anthemic indie rock at its finest.
