Still Life
We say
Leeds based alt-pop trio Peakes offer a stunning reflection on isolation and loneliness in this spacious and otherworldly number. Recorded in Yorkshire with Richard Formby (Wild Beasts, Ghostpoet, Hookworms), the track slowly saunters into life with Molly Puckering’s crystalline vocals a glorious beacon amidst an expansive blend of ambient electronics, nocturnal beats and shimmering percussion. Released last week, Still Life garnered its premiere on DIY and has since picked up online praise from The Line of Best Fit following previous tastemaker support from the likes of Clash, NME, Gigwise and Mahogany. Having performed sold out shows in Leeds and London earlier this year, Peakes will be back in the capital later this month with a show at the Waiting Room on 25 October. For fans of Aphex Twin and Brian Eno, this is compelling and vivid alt-pop of the highest standard.
