Why So Serious?
We say
English born, German-based singer-songwriter Alice Merton burst onto the global stage last year with her infectious 1m selling debut single and former Record of the Day No Roots. The track went onto achieve platinum status in six countries, was No.1 on Spotify’s Global Viral Chart, topped the Billboard Alternative charts and helped her to amass over 261m global streams, 124m YouTube views and 8.8m Shazams. Now she is back with this fantastically positive and compelling follow up, Why So Serious? Taken from her forthcoming debut album Mint, the track was immediately added to streaming services' new release programming last week, including 31 Spotify New Music Playlists and Apple’s Best of the Week, and once again, showcases her knack for writing addictive alternative anthems. With her distinct guitar sound underpinning this fun and poppier production, we reckon this will soon be garnering plays at Radio 1, Radio 2, Heart and Absolute, picking up from where her debut left off. Tonight (10 September), Alice will be playing a sold-out show at the Garage in London, so if you can get yourself on the guestlist we recommend you check her out.
