Goodbye Summer
We say
Regular readers will know of our admiration for the gorgeous vocals of American artist Danielle Bradbery, having previously featured her singles, Sway and Worth It, over the past year or so. Last month, she released this breezy and wistful country-tinged pop duet that has so far clocked up over 2m Spotify streams and received its first BBC Radio 2 play ahead of her performance at this weekend’s The Long Road festival in Leicestershire. Originally written for Danielle’s second album I Don’t Believe We’ve Met as a solo performance (Hello Summer) by Thomas Rhett, his father Rhett Atkins, Julian Bunetta and the Cadillac Three’s Jaren Johnston, this reimagination sees Thomas join her on vocals and add a male perspective to a glorious, foot tapping ode to a shortlived romance. Destined to feature on heartbreak playlists the world over, Goodbye Summer looks set to stay for at least a couple of more seasons and we reckon will pick up more radio airplay over the coming weeks too. Bittersweet country-pop at its finest.
