With over 50m combined streams over the last 12 months alone, it’s safe to say that Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and actress Katelyn Tarver has the knack of crafting meaningful and compelling pop songs. It all started a little over four years ago when she co-wrote the UK No.1 hit, Crazy Stupid Love for Cheryl Cole. Fuelled by this success, Tarver started to write and self-release singles, including Weekend Millionaires and You Don’t Know, which would later form last year’s Tired Eyes EP and garner tastemaker support from the likes of Spotify, Tidal, Beats1, the Line of Best Fit, Nylon, and Earmilk. Now she is back with this gorgeous title track to her follow up EP, Kool Aid. Released last week (31 August), it’s a real gem, full of luscious melodies and a breezy production that will have you blissfully bopping away in no time while her poignant lyrics linger long after the final note. She is currently starring alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in HBO’s hit show Ballers and is looking to tour the UK later this year, having recently finished a West Coast tour of the US. Infectious and witty mellow pop from a future pop star in the making.
