Loving You
We say
Let us introduce you to the hauntingly beautiful sounds of Second Hand Poet, the secretive moniker of Surrey singer songwriter Jamie Tipson. Taken from his debut mini-album Songs From The Pyre released earlier this year, Loving You is a gorgeously evocative and solemn listen. From the stark, ambient soundscapes of echoing guitar notes to Jamie’s yearning vocals, the track is steeped in heartfelt emotion. It’s a brutally honest and poignant piece of songwriting that was originally written as a love song, but over time has undergone many changes and is now “a song about hope in the aftermath of a love that disappeared between two people”. It so perfectly captures this moment that we can easily see this being picked up for sync purposes on an American TV drama series or a film. Online tastemakers such as When The Horn Blows, Born Music, Thanks Folk For That and Folk & Honey have all sung its praises alongside radio support from BBC Introducing who also invited him in to record a live session last Saturday (18 August). With Loving You, Second Hand Poet has created a mesmerising and powerful song that deserves attention and one that can sit proudly next to songs from the likes of Jeff Buckley, Keaton Henson and Elliott Smith.
