Illusions is the gorgeous, upbeat and soothing electronic soul number from north west Londoner Roses Gabor. Having featured on tracks by SBTRKT (Pharaohs) and Shy FX (Raver), Roses returned earlier this month with her own solo material featuring 2017 Mercury Prize-winner and friend Sampha on guest vocals and production duties. It’s a bittersweet ode to a failing relationship that blends swirling synth melodies, uplifting harmonies and off-kilter, meditative percussive elements to create an urgent yet comforting soundscape. This sumptuous song has been added to Spotify’s New Indie Mix editorial playlist, as well as receiving some serious love across BBC 1 Xtra with spins from Mistajam, Trevor Nelson, Yasmin Evans, Twin B, Jamz Supernova, Benji and DJ Target who named it his Targo Embargo. Further tastemaker praise has come from the likes of the Line of Best Fit, Complex, Trench, and the Fader who will also be premiering the video this Wednesday.
