We say

London-based Parisian alt-jazz singer Cha:dy (pronounced shadi) shapes a rather slick and smooth dose of alt R&B in this sublime song released last Friday. Having grown up in Paris, she moved to London to focus on her music career where she studied at the prestigious BIMM music college and released her debut EP, My Feet On The Ground last year. Taking her cues from the silky production of acts such as Janelle Monae and MIA, LIKE A BOI sees Cha:dy explore themes of female empowerment and patriarchy is this bolder, fresher and more upbeat affair than her jazzier EP release. It’s a stunning evolution with its brooding electro beats, funky guitar line and infectious chorus, but it’s Cha:dy’s gorgeous, velvety vocals that really shine through in this gem including a sumptuous bridge sung in her native French. Tastemaker support has so far come from Indie Shuffle and Atwood Magazine, whilst previously she has garnered support at Reprezent radio and performed on Sofar Sounds.
