My Toy
We say
Back in January, we introduced you to the sounds of Reading’s synth-funk group L.A.D and their gorgeous ‘80s inspired electronic vibes in the reflective One More Night. Their latest single, My Toy, released last Friday, sees the trio paint an infectious soundscape reminiscent of early Madonna at her very best when she had Nile Rodgers bringing that Chic style heat to the mixing desk. As with Daft Punk a couple of years back, L.A.D have created their own throwback sound full of pop hooks and a sing-along chorus that will have you instantly wishing for a dancefloor as the nostalgia descends. Having already gained tastemaker praise from the likes of Complex and Earmilk for previous singles, One More Night and Dancefloor, L.A.D are set to garner more fans with this upbeat number. Instantly emotive and striking, this funky slice of synth-busting pop maybe busting an ‘80s groove but oh boy, it’s good, very good indeed.
