Dublin-based 20-year-old Jean-Luc Uddoh, aka JyellowL, is one of the rising young stars and pioneers of the Irish urban and hip-hop scene. Originally born in Nigeria, he moved to Ireland when he was 14 and started rapping professionally two years ago with the release of his first single Life Right Now. Since then he has garnered tastemaker support from the likes of Nialler9, Joe, and Noisey, as well as tracks from his debut EP, Bulletproof, featuring on Spotify’s Alternative Hip Hop, Chillmatic and New Eire editorial playlists. His new single, Medusa, released last Friday and produced by longtime collaborator Chris Kabs is set to further propel JyellowL into the limelight with its addictive trap induced percussive elements and free flowing lyricism. The track has already been chosen by Dan Hegarty as a Tune of the Day on RTE 2FM and further online support is set to go live over the next week. With Medusa, JyellowL continues to impress and reminds us that it’s not just London that has a burgeoning hip-hop culture.
