Performing a sold-out show at the Lexington tonight as part of their first headline tour of the UK are London-based five-piece Curse of Lono. Fronted by former Hey Negrita vocalist and guitarist, Felix Bechtolsheimer, the band spent the majority of last year touring the UK and Europe after the release of their critically acclaimed debut album Severed. This vengeful blast of distorted bass and filthy baritone guitar is the first single to be taken from their upcoming Oli Bayston (Boxed In) produced second album, As I Fell. Accompanying the album is a short documentary Somewhere In Their Heads by Gregg Houston (Noel Gallagher, Two Door Cinema Club, Michael Kiwanuka, Foy Vance), which was filmed during album recordings at Rancho V, a remote desert studio near Pioneertown in Joshua Tree. The documentary premiered earlier this month with RELIX Magazine in the US and follows tastemakers Mojo, Uncut, Louder than War, Classic Rock, Paste, Magnet and Under The Radar supporting the band. With their cinematic blend of Americana and driving, gothic alt-rock, the band will later this summer open for Steve Earle in Europe as well as returning to London to play the Borderline on 27 June.
