Overkill
We say
Next week sees the annual pilgrimage of music industry finest to sunny (let’s hope) Brighton for The Great Escape festival. Over the next week, we shall be looking ahead to some of the acts we recommend you should check out. First up, is the talented Manchester-based artist Holly Quin Ankrah, aka RAHH who this week released this gorgeous debut track. We were immediately drawn to the Warrington native’s powerful soul-tinged vocals in this heavy-hitting pop offering and with a massive chorus to boot, Overkill has all the right ingredients to become a streaming and radio hit. Discovered by Eurythmics legend Dave Stewart, she grew up in a family all involved in music and alongside music from powerful female musicians, such as Destiny’s Child, En Vogue, and TLC have all undoubtedly helped shape her sound. Having been premiered by the Line of Best Fit and garnering radio support from BBC Introducing, RAHH will be performing an early evening gig at the Komedia Studio bar next Thursday (17 May) at TGE. It may only be early in her career but already you can hear the polished sound of a star in the making.
