To Be Brave
We say
We have been following London based artist Bryde since we featured her powerful second single Help Yourself and the punchy Honey back in 2016. Both tracks showed us that she was a no-nonsense force to be reckoned with as a singer-songwriter and last Friday this was cemented with the release of her stunning debut album, Like An Island. This hauntingly beautiful song is the opener (and single) to the album and sets the scene for a wild, passionate and cathartic record. It flits between the raw and rockier moments of PJ Harvey to the tender and confessional nature of Sharon Van Etten. Tastemaker support has come from the likes of Dork, Clash, The Line of Best Fit, NPR, Consequence of Sound and Wonderland among others. Huw Stephens (BBC Radio 1), Tom Robinson (6Music), and Maz Tappuni (Radio X) have all supported her at radio with BBC Wales and 5Live airing sessions soon. Bryde is currently touring the UK and will be headlining the Omeara in London on 1 May before heading over to Europe to tour France, Germany and Spain. An evocative listen from one of the country's indisputable talents.
