We have been following 19 year-old Dutch-Kurdish singer songwriter Naaz since we were blown away by the sheer beauty and infectious nature of her previous singles Words and Can’t. With over 680k streams in just under two weeks, her new single Up To Something is an irresistible slice of pop that is brimming with positivity and hope. Powered by its tribal drum beat and joyous vocals, this is pop music at its best, simple and elegant yet catchy as hell. Her previous releases have clocked up over 8.5 million streams between them, featured in over 90 Spotify New Music Friday playlist’s around the world and garnered tastemaker praise from the likes of The Line Of Best Fit, The Fader, Noisey and Wonderland Magazine. Radio support has come from Annie Mac at Radio 1, Julie Adenuga at Beats 1 and Mistajam at 1Xtra who premiered Up To Something. She has just been announced to play The Great Escape ‘First Fifty’ at the Old Blue Last on 23 November having recently performed at Reeperbahn, Metropolis, Lowlands and Welcome to the Village music festivals. She may be “just a girl that’s up to something” but for us she is a star in the making and one to watch in 2018.
