Raincheck
We say
Hannah Jane Lewis’s irresistible new pop single, Raincheck, her first through Polydor, fizzes with a swirling passionate energy kept in check by a contemporary electro edge. Hannah left leafy Surrey with a family emigration to Florida when she was just 14, where she progressed through a typical teen movie style American high school experience to earn a place at NYU’s prestigious Tisch School of The Arts, whose alumni include Lady Gaga. Returning to the UK, a single minded focus on singing and songwriting brought about independent tracks Hide and Go Seek, Bend or Break and Why Start A War which alerted key tastemakers like Popjustice, Clash and Buzzfeed. Released only last Friday, Raincheck has made an immediate impact; chosen for Spotify’s New Music Friday UK’s playlist, played on Radio 1 in Best New Pop and glowing reviews in Line of Best Fit, Idolator, MTV UK and Indie Shuffle. A Distiller session will run in October and remixes by Jack from Fickle Friends, KC Lights and Embody are on the way plus an acoustic performance at Birthdays on October 3. With her transatlantic upbringing, Hannah is a true global star in the making and this headstrong singer’s future is as bright as her glittery imagination.
