Intoxicated
We say
Little is known of Australian-based producer and DJ Eduardo Muchacho, but his arrival with this ridiculously funky track has made many key tastemakers sit up and take note. He’s one half of Sydney duo Human Movement, and this debut solo release has already achieved 216,000 Spotify streams in its first few weeks. The list of names supporting it at UK radio includes Pete Tong (who jumped on it immediately), Annie Mac and the team at Capital XTRA, and there’s big love for it too from the likes of Groove Armada, Jamie Jones, Tensnake, Gorgon City, RÜFÜS and way, way more. Signed to Aussie label Of Leisure, it's been picked up in the UK by Polydor but is still available for the rest of the world. Keen musicologists will spot a Rick James sample in the frothy mix, cleared with approval from the estate of the great man. Musically, this is a killer late-night dancefloor groove that draws on some elements of 1980s Chicago house music, alongside 1970s soul and blends them with a tasty hi-hat, percussion and rumbling contemporary low end bass frequencies. Intoxicated yet? You bet we are.
