Good Way
We say
Leicester's Mark Elliott is an emerging singer-songwriter with a keen ear for an instantly likeable melody. His debut EP China Doll was released last year, receiving praise for his honest lyrics and electro-edged spin on grown-up pop. This latest track was co-written with hot songwriting team Alkemi and pushes that direction further. It’s a piano-led ballad, beautifully layered with synth hooks and pulses, expertly produced by Brad Mair, who gives the song plenty of room to breathe, ultimately letting the listener truly absorb Mark’s vocal. With subject matter that dwells on new love, maturity and how our perspective on life can often change around different people and fresh experiences, it’s confidently executed by everyone involved. Mark’s live debut in London last year was supporting Gabrielle Aplin, and he’s also performed for Sofar Sounds too. He’ll be doing more sessions for them on June 22 and 23. Fans of Adam Levine or Ryan Tedder will find the great falsetto chorus hook on this tune is reminiscent of those two pop giants. A proper solid earworm, make no mistake.
