We say
Ella and Alex are a pair of long-time school friends who are now London-based in-your-face pop duo Cherryade. We last featured them around 18 months ago when they were first starting out. They’d already generated loads of tastemaker buzz under their own steam, but now that support is growing ever-wider, thanks to this fizzy blast of streetwise attitude, produced by Lewis Gardiner from PRIDES. They’ve also recently been working with Ant Whiting (noted for projects with MIA and John Newman) and this ridiculously addictive song has been added to Spotify’s Weekly Buzz playlist. Cherryade have received support from Huw Stephens at Radio 1, Clash, DIY, Nylon, PopJustice, Apple Music and several US TV syncs to date, plus they’ve just played their first gig at Norwich Arts Centre for BBC Introducing Norfolk. They deliver great copy in interviews too, in a way that only we Brits can when faced with cynical music journalists. It's what puts these young pop agitators ahead of their peers. Mouthy, loose-lipped, daft and giddy, we need plenty more of this, please.
