Bare
We say
Nick Wilson is a 21-year old singer-songwriter from Buckinghamshire whose first four self-produced EP’s were recorded in his bedroom, but have stacked up more than three million combined Spotify streams. Now comes this cool, radio-friendly track, produced by Dave Tidmarsh, that’s neatly layered with the kind of harmonies you’d get from classic mid-to-late 70’s adult-contemporary superstars like Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty, but overlaid with a driving 90's percussive electronic click-beat. It all works brilliantly. The lyrics were inspired by Nick’s feelings of being lost and vulnerable during a quiet period of his career to date, but the writing process of this well-crafted song re-ignited his ambition, especially as his DIY approach so far has given him impressive initial results. He’ll be performing as part of Gabrielle Aplin’s Never Fade night in London at The Social on April 24. Premiered yesterday (March 29) by Clash, it’s already evident to us that Nick’s drive and ear for melody will undoubtedly fast-track his profile further. This has genuine quality written all over it.
