Hypomania
We say
After we previously featured London-based singer-songwriter Amy Syed twice last year, most recently in November with the gorgeous Lonely Love, it’s great to hear her confidence developing further with this latest release, as she continues to find her feet and evolve musically. Her third single is once again co-written and produced with her longtime collaborator Ali Thynne (who’s also worked with Tom Walker, MNEK and EKKAH), along with London jazz artist Peter Lee. Amy’s falsetto vocals positively soar here and you can experience them live soon when she hosts and performs at a series of jazz-inspired music nights each Saturday from mid-April at Edgar’s in London’s Broadway Market, E8. The trio of Amy, Ali and Peter also play live dates around the release of the upcoming EP. Lyrically, this song deals honestly and openly with an addiction to toxic and volatile relationships through all their inevitable highs and lows, all set to a beautiful '80s-inspired electro-synth soundtrack that in turn nods to current output from artists like Caribou or Tame Impala. And, once again, we're smitten.
