We say
Irishman David Keenan is a 23-year-old singer-songwriter from Dundalk whose gift for storytelling through his remarkable music has already demonstrated that he’s a very special talent indeed. This debut release on his own record label comes steeped in the influences of literary greats like Behan, Yeats and Wilde, set to a soundtrack created by a young Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley or even The Dubliners. That total obsession with words and melody shines brightly here as he pours his heart out in a complex tale of young love. This release, which has gone straight to No.1 on the iTunes Singer Songwriter chart, is produced by John Reynolds, noted for his work with Damien Dempsey and Sinead O’Connor amongst others. Dempsey, Glen Hansard and Hothouse Flowers are already huge supporters, and David is causing quite a stir live right now, opening up for The Strypes on their 30-date tour of Ireland. This lead track from his three-song single has it all – passion, pain and promise, all magnificently delivered by an artist whose ascent to greatness and further acclaim deserves to happen rapidly.
