The End Of The Earth
We say
Blinding have been gaining attention recently, thanks in part to their unusual plan to reveal songs from their upcoming debut album once a fortnight until completion. It’s one of those recent tracks that’s caught our ear, full of anticipation of what might be coming next. The group formed last year, with electronic dance sub-genres such as garage, trip-hop and dubstep among their influences. To date, their only performances have been at Glastonbury and Reading/Leeds last summer but support for their music has already come from BBC Introducing, 6Music’s Tom Robinson and Underworld’s Karl Hyde when he sat in for Giles Peterson. Their sound is made by manipulating original field recordings, and this song is one of the most instant of the bunch we’ve heard so far, featuring a great vocal imbued with vigour and fire. Their debut London live show and album release will be at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on June 28. We’re impressed by the clever drip-feeding of songs to spark interest, and we’re even more impressed at how well it’s all developing at present. Something big is building here.
