We first featured Ed Whicher last February, when he approached us directly with his gorgeous song Always Alright. Both that and his next track Forgive You equally impressed us, Since then, he’s been writing and recording with his production partner Charlie Holmes at his home studio in Chichester. Here they incorporate a slightly more synthetic sound to the acoustic one Ed already has, and it elevates his work, giving it a richer feel without taking anything away from that clean, stripped back groove that exists throughout. One of four songs from a collection released over the winter months, you can hear his confidence growing with each. It’s so well crafted with a timeless quality that all great songs have, and with the durability to also land a worldwide hit for any established star like Sheeran, Bieber, James Arthur et al. Last year’s RotD features led to several productive meetings with established management and pluggers, all keen to hear more and work with him. Excuse the obvious pun, but we can think of no better man to snap up and scale global mainstream heights right now.
