Each year Eurosonic Nooderslag highlights a different country in its quest to showcase the diverse musical talent across Europe. For 2017, the spotlight falls on Portugal, with a total of 21 acts from the region performing, including :PAPERCUTZ. Electronic producer Bruno Miguel is the alias behind the project and here he teams up with vocalist Catarina Miranda for this first single from his forthcoming ten-track album King Ruiner, which is set for release later this year and will be showcased at Eurosonic next week. Bruno began this side project in Porto just over a decade ago, drawing on his love of acclaimed artists such as Kate Bush, Bjork, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Peter Gabriel as the inspiration for creating his own music. He describes this as a song about the illusion of control and embracing uncertainty. It pulses and throbs with textures, beats and electronic rhythms, and you can catch their live Eurosonic show at Minerva Art Academy on January 13. With a bold, challenging sound that’s atmospheric, anthemic and euphoric, it promises to be a hugely rewarding evening.
