Call Me
We say
Released today (November 18), and heralding a marked change of direction to which she's perfectly suited, welcome back Imelda May with her first release in nearly three years. Not only has the musical style changed somewhat, but so too has her look. Gone is the rockabilly throwback sound - this impressive first single is a beautifully sophisticated song delivered with ease and confidence. It's from her next album, due early in 2017, produced by the great T-Bone Burnett, which contains the most personal songs she's ever written, exploring blues, soul, gospel, folk and balladry. Burnett's long been a huge fan of hers, and enlisted the same stellar cast of musicians who performed on Robert Plant & Alison Krauss' Grammy-winning album Raising Sand to appear on the album. The campaign begins with a Dermot O’Leary Radio 2 session tomorrow (November 19) and Imelda's back performing live, with a sold-out London date at Ronnie Scott’s on November 28. Tender, soulful, personal, honest, it’s a wonderful return for an artist we’ve always had so much time for. And now, even more so.
