The Nordic influence on pop around the world in 2016 can never be underestimated, particularly that of Sweden. We feature tracks from the region regularly, and they are almost always slickly produced, packed to the gills with earworms. This debut single from Gabriel Gassi is no exception. It’s as if he’s managed to distill every great global pop hook from the past year or so into one track, with dancehall and bashment influences sitting in the mix along with the sort of thing that people would have as their ringtone back in the day, The Stockholm-based producer has been making a noise on the Swedish music scene thanks to a bunch of remixes for domestic artists. Now this track has given him a breakout as an emerging star in his own right. In the past few weeks, it’s reached No.13 on Spotify’s Global Top 50 Viral chart, including Top 5 peaks in Sweden and the US. There’s also been support from Clash Music, Project U and Wonderland magazine, and airplay starting with Australia’s Nova FM. Ridiculously catchy, just one play is all it takes to have this tune swirling round your head all day.
